Feeling Overwhelmed And You Have a Dog Too?
Join the club….

Overwhelm and pet ownership
At some point in our lives we will all have that feeling of OH MY GOD….how will I do it all?
You are juggling work, personal life, family commitments….and if that is not
enough…you also have a dog or two and maybe other pets? And where does the 'me
time' fit in?
You are overwhelmed and trying to figure out how to balance your life, and dog ownership. The dog is reacting to all of this by either barking for attention, eating the food off thecounter or jumping up. Some from frustration or lack of proper exercise, or simply inconsistent boundaries.

So what can you do about it?
Do not worry solutions exist. I know what it is like to have a professional career that
demands a lot of you physically and mentally, I have juggled raising a family whilst
also working and studying, managed family commitments, disasters which often left
little to zero ‘me’ time and feeling definitely overwhelmed. The dog (s) become
bored, reactive and the dog walk becomes unfocused and quite frankly …boring, as
you squeeze it in between all your other commitments.
So I learnt how to train in short bursts, how to enjoy dog walks again whilst also
getting some downtime and fresh air. I devised structured walks to include play,
obedience training and downtime, whilst also putting in place clear boundaries in the
house so the dog(s) knew where their place was. Respecting my space and
respecting theirs. Thus creating a peaceful environment enabling one to get on with
whatever needed to be done. Creating balance and meeting everyone’s needs including my own.
The worst thing you can do is give up, add more responsibility on your shoulders,
feel guilty and not ask for help.
If you are a family unit we can devise a plan where everyone has a job to do.
If you are single we can break it down to work with your other commitments.
